What happened?

Bond yields are rising again, and investors are starting to pay attention.

The US 10-year government bond yield has moved higher in recent weeks, while the 30-year Treasury yield has climbed to levels not seen for many years.

Singapore government bond yields have risen too, with the 10-year yield reaching a 52-week high of about 2.5%.

This matters because bond yields affect much more than just bond investors.

Higher long-term interest rates can influence stock valuations, borrowing costs, REIT yields and the returns investors expect from different asset classes.
