What happened?
For many people, the hardest part about investing is not opening an account, it is knowing how to begin.
Investing is more accessible than ever with tons of information available.
But it has not necessarily become less intimidating, especially when you’re a beginner or just want a hassle-free investing experience.
That was what I found myself thinking about when I visited moomoo’s latest store in Bugis, which launched earlier this month and is now its biggest store in Southeast Asia.
More than a physical store, the moomoo store aims to make investing more approachable, especially for people who want more guidance, more structure, and more confidence as they get started.
A physical space for investors who want more guidance
Today, everything about investing can be easily done from your phone.
But for newer investors, or even those who have started but still feel unsure, the experience can feel very different.
You may not know which questions to ask. You may not be sure whether you are overthinking things.
This is the gap that moomoo's Bugis store aims to close.
After launching their two earlier stores at 313@Somerset and JEM, this Bugis store provides a new space for investors to learn, get credible guidance, and engage with a community of other investors and experts.
Located at 496 North Bridge Road in the Bugis precinct, the store spans two full floors, allowing ample space for learning and conversation.

MooAcademy: structured learning when you need it most
The centrepiece of the Bugis store's education offering is MooAcademy, a dedicated series of learning workshops and sessions led by moomoo analysts and invited market experts.
During my visit, I attended a session on “Know Your Options” by Isaac Lim, Chief Market Strategist at moomoo.

While options can sound intimidating at first, the session broke the topic down in a practical and structured way.
What I appreciated was that it did not assume everyone was already familiar with the language or concepts.
Instead, it focused on helping attendees understand how different strategies work and when they may or may not be relevant.
Beyond options, there were also sessions on broader topics investors may be more familiar with, but still want help understanding more clearly.
One session on Investing in Singapore: ETF as a Strategic Allocation by Kang Wei Chin from SGX explored how ETFs allow beginner investors to start investing in a simple way.
In simple terms, ETFs, or exchange-traded funds, let you invest in a basket of assets, like stocks or bonds, through a single trade.
What makes ETFs appealing, especially for beginners, is that they offer a few key advantages:
- Diversification: Instead of picking individual stocks, you gain exposure to a basket of companies or assets
- Lower cost: ETFs are typically more cost-efficient than actively managed funds
- Ease of access: They can be bought and sold just like a stock on the stock market like the Singapore Exchange (SGX)
He shared some examples of SGX-listed ETFs that give investors broad access to different themes. For instance, STI ETFs track the Straits Times Index and provide exposure to major Singapore companies.
REIT ETFs, meanwhile, offer diversified exposure to Singapore-listed REITs, and Gold ETFs give investors access to gold without the need to physically store it.
For beginner investors, this provides a more straightforward way to start building a portfolio without having to select individual securities.
With moomoo, investors can also dollar-cost average into these ETFs at relatively low cost, helping to build positions gradually over time.

Another session on Shining Through Uncertainty: Gold as a Strategic Asset by Ong Xun Xiang from Lion Global Investors focused on how gold can fit into portfolios, particularly in the current environment.
Ong shared in the session about the case for gold today as a portfolio diversifier during periods of heightened geopolitical tension, currency uncertainty, and shifting interest rate expectations.
In previous market cycles, gold has often behaved differently from equities and bonds, which is why some investors look at it as a way to improve portfolio resilience.
He also highlighted a more accessible way for investors in Singapore to gain exposure to gold through ETFs.
What stood out to me about these sessions wasn’t just the content, but the format.
They were useful because they help newer investors understand what different asset classes are for, how they might fit into a broader portfolio over time and practical ways of thinking about your investments.

What I found particularly valuable at the session I attended, hosted by Ong Xun Xiang from Lion Global Investors, was the access to the speaker afterwards.
After the session, I was able to speak directly with the speaker, ask questions, clarify points, and relate the ideas back to my own portfolio.
That’s a very different experience from watching a webinar or reading an article, and it turns learning into something more interactive and more actionable.
For beginner investors in particular, that matters. Often, what holds people back is not just lack of knowledge, but uncertainty around whether they are interpreting something correctly.
Being able to ask a question in person, and get an answer there and then, can make investing feel much less intimidating.

Supporting conversations and community
The store hosts large market screens, open networking zones, private consultation rooms, and a dedicated learning hub, all with the idea of creating a space that’s accessible for investors to learn and connect.
The large displays show market trends in real time, giving you a panoramic view of what's moving in the market.

The private rooms offer a quieter space for more focused conversations with experts.
And the open zones are designed to let conversations happen naturally, with other investors who are likely asking the same questions you are.
There’s also a café within the space, which adds to the overall experience.

Moomoo users enjoy 25% off the entire menu for life, and if you’re considering getting started, you can sign up via Beansprout to receive an additional S$50 FairPrice voucher on top of existing rewards. Learn more about the promotion here.
What would Beansprout do?
If someone is just starting their investing journey, or still feels like they need more guidance, the goal should not be to know everything before you begin but to start with the right foundations.
This includes learning the basics, and choosing tools and environments that make it easier to keep learning.
For some people, that may be an app. For others, having access to in-person workshops and conversations may make the process feel far more approachable.
After spending time at the moomoo Bugis store, what stood out to me is that having the right environment can make a difference.
The combination of face-to-face expert access, structured workshops through MooAcademy, peer community, and a space designed to help you learn and gain confidence in making informed investment decisions makes it worth a visit.
