What happened?

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly become part of our daily lives, helping us write emails, summarise documents and answer questions in seconds.

AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude have also become a popular way to learn about companies, understand market news and brainstorm investment ideas.

But general-purpose AI tools are not designed specifically for investing.

They don't know what stocks I own, they don't have direct access to my brokerage workflows, and they can't always distinguish which market developments are most relevant to my portfolio.

That's why I was curious when Longbridge invited us to its AI Product Launch in Singapore, where it unveiled its AI-native brokerage platform

During the event, I got an early look at LongbridgeAI, Longbridge Skills, and its broader vision for bringing AI directly into the investing experience.

Here's what stood out to me.

What is LongbridgeAI?

During the launch, Longbridge shared that it has rebuilt the investing experience with AI at its core, describing it as an AI-native brokerage.

Longbridge defines AI-native as AI that reshapes the product itself, not just product efficiency. Based on Longbridge research, no other listed retail broker licensed to operate in Hong Kong, Singapore, or the United States currently meets this standard.

Longbridge Group CEO and Co-Founder Nowa Zhu shared that while technology has made investing more accessible than ever, investors are still faced with an overwhelming amount of information every day. The challenge now is knowing what information actually matters.

To address this challenge, Longbridge introduced four connected products designed to support different stages of the investing journey.

How does LongbridgeAI work?

LongbridgeAI uses a Language User Interface (LUI), where conversations become the primary way investors interact with their brokerage.

Instead of clicking through menus or manually searching for information, I can simply ask questions or describe what I want to achieve. AI then helps guide me through the investing process.

At the launch, Longbridge showed how LongbridgeAI can support the investing process.

The AI system is meant to:

  1. help me discover the market developments relevant to my portfolio,
  2. understand how those developments affect my investments,
  3. form an investment plan based on those insights,
  4. and review past investment decisions to improve over time.

Longbridge calls this workflow Catalyst → Signal → Plan → Review.

Here’s how each stage works in practice.

#1 – Catalyst: Understanding what matters

Every day, investors are bombarded with earnings reports, economic data releases, and breaking market news.

LongbridgeAI's Catalyst feature aims to filter through that noise by surfacing market events based on my portfolio holdings.

During the live demonstration, Longbridge showed how the AI could identify significant developments affecting a company, while also explaining why those events may be important to an investor's holdings.

A live example I saw was how LongbridgeAI could explain how Apple’s earnings release might affect one of Apple's suppliers in an investor’s portfolio.

This could help investors uncover connections they might otherwise miss.

#2 – Signal: What does this mean for me?

Knowing what happened is only part of the equation.

The next step is understanding what it means for my own investment portfolio.

According to Longbridge, Signal analyses market developments alongside my existing holdings, investing preferences and risk profile to provide more personalised insights.

As Angela Zhao, Head of User Growth at Longbridge US, explained during the demonstration, "Two people could read the exact same headline and walk away with completely different recommendations because it's not telling you what the market thinks—it's telling you what it means for you."

LongbridgeAI aims to tailor its analysis based on the investor using the platform.

#3 – Plan: Turning insights into an investment plan

After identifying an opportunity, LongbridgeAI helps me think through the next step.

The Plan feature is designed to help me build an investment plan that they can review and refine before making any decisions.

During the keynote, Longbridge described this as transforming an investment idea into something more actionable, such as identifying a target entry point or outlining factors to monitor before investing.

Importantly, Longbridge emphasised that AI is intended to support decision-making, not replace it.

#4 – Review: Learning from past decisions

One of the more interesting features introduced during the launch was Review.

Instead of simply tracking whether a trade made or lost money, the AI encourages me to revisit my original investment thesis and assess whether the decision-making process was sound.

As Angela Zhao explained, "You can make money for entirely the wrong reasons. And that's exactly what Review is designed to uncover."

The idea is to help me continuously improve my investing process over time, not just focus solely on short-term returns.

The Catalyst → Signal → Plan → Review framework gives the platform a clearer structure where it encourages me to think through each stage of the decision-making process before acting.

What are Longbridge Skills?

While LongbridgeAI powers the experience within the brokerage platform, one of the more interesting announcements at the launch was Longbridge Skills.

Longbridge Skills allows me to connect Longbridge's investing capabilities with AI assistants I already use, such as ChatGPT or Claude.

In other words, I can access Longbridge's proprietary market data, research capabilities, and investing tools directly within AI workflows in AI platforms I already use.

During the live demonstration, Longbridge showed how I could ask natural language questions such as:

  • "Summarise NVIDIA's latest earnings results."
  • "Compare Apple and Microsoft."
  • "What are the key risks facing Tesla?"

The AI is able to combine those prompts with Longbridge's market data and investing tools to produce responses that are more relevant for me as an investor.

One of the key ideas behind Longbridge Skills is reducing the need to jump between multiple platforms.

Today, many investors like myself already use AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity to understand investing concepts or brainstorm investment ideas.

But I often need to verify that information elsewhere before making any decisions.

Longbridge is trying to bridge that gap by making its investing capabilities available within those AI conversations.

If I’m already comfortable using AI assistants as part of my daily workflow, this could make researching companies and understanding market developments more seamless.

How could investors use LongbridgeAI?

While many of the AI features showcased at the launch were impressive, the bigger question is how they fit into my day-to-day investing routine.

From what I saw during the demonstrations, LongbridgeAI isn't trying to replace an investor's judgement.

Instead, it aims to reduce the amount of time spent gathering information so I can spend more time analysing opportunities and making decisions.

Here are a few ways I think investors could potentially use the platform.

#1 – Researching a stock more quickly

One of the most obvious use cases is researching companies.

Rather than switching between earnings reports, news websites, and search engines, I can ask LongbridgeAI to summarise a company, explain recent developments, and surface the information that's most relevant to my research.

This could be particularly useful when researching unfamiliar companies or comparing several investment opportunities in a short period of time.

#2 – Understanding market-moving events

For beginners who are just starting to invest, understanding why a stock moved can often be more difficult.

LongbridgeAI attempts to bridge that gap by explaining market events in plain language while highlighting how those developments could affect companies I’m following.

#3 – Keeping track of your portfolio

LongbridgeAI can surface developments that are relevant to my watchlist or holdings.

If I’m managing a diversified portfolio across multiple markets,  such as Hong Kong and US stocks, this could make it easier to stay informed without constantly checking multiple sources.

#4 – Learning while investing

The platform also attempts to explain the reasoning behind the answers it provides.

For investors who are still building confidence, this could turn everyday investing activities into learning opportunities, helping them better understand why certain events matter.

That said, AI should still be viewed as a tool to support decision-making. It should not replace decision-making.

I would continue to verify information, conduct my own due diligence and make investment decisions based on my own financial objectives and risk tolerance.

What would Beansprout do?

Artificial intelligence has quickly become part of many investors' research process.

Whether it's summarising earnings reports, understanding unfamiliar businesses or making sense of market-moving news, AI can save time by helping investors process information more efficiently.

From what I saw during the launch, LongbridgeAI takes this a step further by integrating AI directly into the investing workflow.

One of the biggest benefits of AI is reducing the time spent gathering information.

Instead of reading multiple news articles or earnings reports from scratch, I’d use LongbridgeAI to quickly understand the key developments surrounding a company before diving deeper into the areas that matter most.

One interesting way to use AI is to look for opposing views.

For example, if I’m bullish on a company, I’d ask the AI to identify the biggest risks or the strongest bear case before making an investment decision.

This helps guard against confirmation bias and encourages more balanced thinking.

While AI can summarise information and surface relevant insights, investment decisions should still be based on your own financial goals, risk tolerance and independent judgement.

I see AI as a research assistant rather than a replacement for critical thinking.
